Also revealed that lower interest rates are a priority
Boudou assures 'there is no such inflationary process in Argentina’
Economy Minister, Amado Boudou firmly rejected today the idea of the country going through an inflationary process, "We can see that relative prices are experiencing little adjustments, but I do not see an inflationary process going on."
As an example, the minister said "meat cuts prices went up but it has to do with the two years drought that has affected cattle's diet and impeded them from fatten up. Anyway, these circumstances will be reverted as the government takes specific measures, but as you can see, we're talking about certain items and not a whole inflationary process."
Boudou also mentioned that "what is necessary to achieve a substantial drop of the interest rates so that we can regain the investment level for which the role of the private sector will be crucial as they can generate numerous job posts."
The Economy Minister had also time to praise, again, the appointment of Mercedes Marcó del Pont as new Central Bank governor: "Her designation represents a plot point for Argentina, but also the continuation of the model this government brought."
Likewise, Boudou remarked that Marcó del Pont role is very important as it will contribute to "improve credit access so that both the public and private sector can increase their investments."
